New Alumni Council Leadership

Jessie K. Dawe ’08 to serve as Chair and Bill Gobble ’03 as Vice Chair

University News | July 9, 2024

President Scott D. Miller is proud to announce new leadership of the VWU Alumni Council, with Jessie K. Dawe ’08, Esq. stepping into the role of Chair and Bill Gobble ’03 assuming the position of Vice Chair. Both individuals bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and vision to their new roles.

A 2008 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan, Dawe's remarkable journey from Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ to Harvard Law School and her subsequent professional achievements underscore her commitment to excellence and service. As an Associate at the Norfolk office of McGuireWoods, she has built a distinguished legal career. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Harvard Law School in 2022. Her dedication to her profession and community has earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ Beacon Award in 2022, which honors alumni who exemplify the university's values.

Joining Dawe in leading the Alumni Council is William “Bill” Gobble ’03. His tenure at Virginia Wesleyan was marked by his active participation in both academics and athletics. As a student, Gobble majored in the Liberal Arts Management Program (L.A.M.P.), now known as Management, Business, and Economics, and served as co-captain of the basketball team under Coach Dave Macedo. His professional journey led him to the American Funds, where he works as a control analyst within financial and operational risks. Gobble says his career in mutual funds and his academic pursuits have been shaped by the strong foundation he built at Virginia Wesleyan.

The Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ Alumni Council’s new leadership promises to inspire and connect Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ graduates, fostering a network of support and collaboration that will benefit both current students and alumni. They will undoubtedly bring a positive impact to the Alumni Council and the broader Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ community.
